Which animal features in this Chinese New Year 2015 Dubai ?
This year (2015) is the year of the GOAT (sheep, or ram) and apparently people like this group of animals in the Chinese Horoscope most of all. Traditionally, Chinese New Year festivities take place over a 15 day period. It marks the beginning of a new lunar year and festivities end with the Lantern Festival.
Which animal represents your year of birth in the Chinese Horoscope?
People born in a certain animal year are believed to have attributes of that animal. I found this very informative site to calculate I was born in the year of the rabbit ! Just fill in your birth date to find yours.
How is Dubai celebrating the Chinese New Year 2015?
The closest Dubai has to a China Town is Dragon Mart. There is also a proliferation of Chinese cafes, shops and supermarkets in the neighboring International City. But these Chinese places aren’t necessarily in the China cluster!
But searching the internet for what is going on in Dubai this Chinese New Year 2015 wasn’t that fruitful. What I did find were these listings in the following hotels but I personally haven’t tried these new offerings. That’s why I am asking you what YOUR favourite favourite Chinese restaurant is.
The Mekong, Anantara Dubai The Palm Resort & Spa – have let me know they are offering:
Chinese New Year at Mekong
Welcome the year of the goat by immersing yourself in the enchanting, authentic far-eastern atmosphere and sample a variety of Chinese specialties, created at live cooking stations by our talented team of Asian chefs. Mekong’s Chinese tea master, Li Helin, will also be serving up the perfect brew in traditional theatrical style. As part of the celebrations at Mekong, every guest will also receive a voucher for AED 50 off Sam Yan Monday Market in a traditional red packet, Hong Bao.

Fancy celebrating Chinese New Year 2015 at home?
You could always stay in and make your own Chinese New Year 2015 banquet following International TV chef Ching-He Huang You Tube shows
Buy your Chinese New Year supplies at the Chinese Supermarket in International City near Dragon mart.
Do you know what INDIAN Chinese food is about?
It’s a bit different to Chinese food in London, with an emphasis on the sauce in many dishes. Indian vegetarian restaurants will have their own version of Indian Chinese food. Manchurian preparation is popular as are Haka noodles and Chinese style chilli paneer preparations. Go to Gypsy Chinese at the Dhow Palace Hotel or try the Chinese section at Bikanerwala in Al Barsha if you’d like to try Indian Chinese food. Great for vegetarians.
